A new poll from the US has delivered a boost to LGBTQ+ advocates, revealing that a majority of Americans oppose political bans on gender-affirming care for transgender people.

The findings, published in a joint poll by The 19th and SurveyMonkey, found that 52 per cent of Americans oppose laws that would ban or restrict gender-affirming care for transgender minors, outweighing the 48 per cent who were in favour, with 34 per cent stating they "strongly oppose" the bans.
