Dear Public Lands,

You have always been the proving ground. The country where a hunter learns humility, where an angler finds patience, and where a family can build stories that will outlast them. Your ridges, rivers, and timber hold more than game and fish. They hold the measure of what it means to live close to the source.

You are wild ground. Six hundred forty million acres. Two hundred thousand miles of trails. Trout streams, elk country, duck marshes. The places that feed us, test us, and keep wild alive.

We owe you more than just footsteps. The least we can do is treat you right. Leave clean camps, cold fire rings, and water without trash. Leave nothing behind but the memory of boot tracks and the weight of a heavy pack. That is how this all stays alive.

On this #PublicLandsDay, here is to 640 million acres of freedom, wild food, and country that refuses to be tamed. Keep being wild and we will keep showing up with respect.
