This weekend, the College Football Playoff staff joined forces with the Cotton Bowl Classic and Black Sports Professionals North Texas to volunteer at Opal's Walk for Freedom in the "Grandmother of Juneteenth"'s hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

A retired African American teacher, counselor and activist, Opal Lee led the charge for decades to make sure that Juneteenth received the recognition it deserved.
