Runners Kathrine Switzer and Sophie Power had never met, but both of their lives and their sport changed after two photographs.

In 1967, Kathrine made global headlines when she dared to run with men in Boston Marathon when women weren’t allowed to.

She was captured being physically assaulted and her picture and her bib number have now become symbols used to empower women, inspiring a global movement called 261 Fearless.

Sophie also found herself at the centre of a media storm in 2018 when she was pictured breastfeeding her three-month-old son during the 106-mile race, The Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc (UTMB).

She is now an ultra-runner for Great Britain and the founder a not-for-profit organisation trying to improve the race experience for women.

The pair recently met at a women's running conference in Oxfordshire, UK, and swapped memories of two images.
