The other day my husband drove my car and I noticed something funny… he needs the GPS voice guidance on. Meanwhile, mine is always OFF 🙅🏻‍♀️

As a DHH driver, I’ve trained myself to reduce all auditory distractions. My eyes are constantly scanning, and I rely on visual cues instead of sound.

It’s such a small example, but it really shows how differently hearing and DHH people experience the world 🌍

👉 Parents, keep this in mind when talking to your DHH kids in the car, and especially when teaching them how to drive. What feels natural for you might look totally different for them—and that’s okay.

It’s not about hearing everything. It’s about adapting, connecting, and building confidence. 💕
