NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH AND RECONCILIATION. Today marks the fifth annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a time to pause, reflect, and acknowledge the truths of our shared history while renewing our commitment to reconciliation.

We are honoured to work alongside and uplift the voices of our Indigenous tourism partners, including indigenoustourismbc and Stó:lō Tourism. We recognize that true reconciliation requires listening, learning, and active participation.

Here in Stó:lō Téméxw (Stó:lō territories), we are invited to experience the deep-rooted cultures, vibrant traditions, and invaluable contributions of Indigenous Peoples. We encourage our community and visitors alike to engage with opportunities to learn, connect, and walk together on the path toward healing and unity.

The gathering is named Stetís ímexstowx (pronounced Stah-tee-ss ee-mehx-sst-owwhx), a powerful phrase in the Halq’eméylem language meaning “walk beside us”. This invitation reflects the heart of Truth and Reconciliation: moving forward together in respect, learning, and unity.

Throughout the gathering, participants will be invited to learn, listen, and engage in meaningful acts of reconciliation through:

📖 Story Presentations – hear stories that illuminate Indigenous history, resilience, and culture.

🎨 Craft Activities – take part in hands-on experiences that foster understanding and respect.

🎤 Live Presentations – gain perspective from speakers and community leaders dedicated to the work of Truth and Reconciliation.

🎭 Semá:th Xó̱:ts Luminous Puppet Performance – experience a moving artistic performance at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium (11:00am & 2:00pm).
