Walter, a successful defense lawyer from Mississippi, had a painful realization while trying a case one day. He was struggling to walk while approaching the judge’s bench to object to a statement. After managing life with primary progressive multiple sclerosis (MS) for several years, Walter decided he needed help. 

When Walter matched with Canine Companions #ServiceDog Noor, Walter began to regain confidence in his abilities and become more independent. 

“I stumble and have a lot of weakness from my MS,” Walter says. “I often use a wheelchair, but when I walk with a cane with Noor, he is ever so gentle in his steps. He anticipates my movements when I stagger.” 

Walter’s changing disability strongly impacts his left side, but Noor is there to save Walter’s energy. By tugging open doors, picking up items so Walter doesn’t fall, and more, Noor allows Walter to focus his energy on working part-time and spending time with his family.
