Korean Air (koreanair) has submitted a revised mileage integration plan to the Fair Trade Commission (FTC) as part of its merger with Asiana Airlines (flyasiana) ✈️

Under this plan, starting from the date of the merger, Asiana mileage can be converted into Korean Air mileage over a 10-year period.

Here’s how the conversion works:
✈️ 1:1 for flight mileage
✈️ 1:0.82 for credit card & partner mileage
(based on how much members of each airline paid to earn 1 mile)

This means Asiana customers will have the flexibility to convert their miles into Korean Air miles anytime within the next decade, depending on what benefits them most.

Korean Air explained that the policy was designed to maximize consumer benefits by keeping Asiana miles separate for 10 years, giving members more choice. Plus, Asiana miles will still be valid for purchasing Korean Air tickets. 🎟️

The FTC will collect public feedback on this proposal until October 13. The commission noted that the first plan submitted back in June was insufficient in protecting consumer rights, but this revised version — filed on September 25 — meets the principles they requested and will now move to the public opinion stage. 👀
