When establishing a trust, it is essential to consider both privacy and risk management alongside probate avoidance. Choosing a discreet name for your trust can help maintain some confidentiality, and separating assets with different risk profiles—such as real estate and automobiles in separate trusts—can provide better risk mitigation … not necessarily because of asset protection (since revocable trusts have no asset protection). Look at it this way, if Trust A’s List of Assets makes its way to a court proceeding … having a bit of distance from Trust B’s List of Assets could be helpful, at least with regard to initial settlement talks. Structuring your trust correctly ensures long-term security and efficiency.
