Joshua Cole, 42, has been arrested by the FBI after he allegedly posted social media comments threatening to open fire on a Pride parade in retaliation for the murder of Charlie Kirk.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Cole wrote on Facebook: “I say we lock and load and pay them back for taking out Charlie Kirk.” He also used the phrase “let’s go hunting fairies” in his comments.

In the FBI’s probable cause affidavit, FBI Special Agent Sam Venuti wrote that Cole’s Facebook comments expressed “an intent to injure a person which, under the circumstances, would cause apprehension in a reasonable person.”

The threats were “not conditional” and were “specific to a particular set of victims: people participating in the gay pride parade.”

During investigation, Cole admitted owning a firearm and posting the Facebook comments, though he denied intent to carry out violence during the parade.
The Abilene Pride festival proceeded as scheduled on September 20 under heightened security.
