Ina Garten $100 Chocolate Cake Part 2

see part 1 cake layers in my previous reel (and why it’s a $100 😛). I omitted the coffee in the frosting but added crème fraiche and a tiny pinch of salt. made with callebautchocolate because inagarten said so. 

the frosting is lovely and not cloying. and the whole assembled cake is tender, chocolatey and not too sweet (with reduced sugar in the cake batter) and a truly perfect classic chocolate cake 😍

📝 notes:

⊳ you may omit the egg yolk if you’re uncomfortable. freeze the orphaned egg whites and defrost to use for other things…I use them in meringues or meatballs (makes them super fluffy) or add it to a scramble / fried rice

⊳ you may add the creme fraiche directly into frosting or mix it with the slightly cooled melted chocolate to help bring down the temperature of the chocolate if it’s too warm to add to butter/sugar mixture - thanks theviewfromgreatisland for this little trick (if chocolate solidifies too much just put it back on double boiler for a moment)
