Republican U.S. Rep. David Schweikert announced Tuesday that he is planning to enter the race for governor in Arizona.

Schweikert confirmed he was running to KTAR News 92.3 FM’s Arizona’s Morning News after the Arizona Republic reported his intentions.

He will be the third high-profile candidate — and second longtime congressman — to join the field of Republicans hoping to take on incumbent Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs in the 2026 general election.
