Wow, Michigan. What a week!

First, an incredible few days in Detroit and Dearborn with Ford Motor Company and Ford Pro for the #FordProAccelerate Summit. Thanks to Ford CEO Jim Farley for bringing key leaders across industry and government together to tackle critical issues in the Essential Economy. I was honored to present my new The Aspen Institute research on how a new approach to workforce development could unlock massive productivity growth across the U.S. economy, and to moderate a panel on this topic with inspiring leaders-- Linda Hubbard, CEO Carhartt; Ryan Maibach, President & CEO Barton Malow; Todd Schneider, President & CEO Cintas; Mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud; and Dr. Melissa Perkins, CFRE, NCEER. I also was thrilled to visit one of the industrial wonders of the world at River Rouge, watch skilled UAW workers build F-150s, and see all the exciting work at Michigan Central and Newlab to build Michigan's innovation economy.

Then, a highly productive stop in Lansing, hosted by Tara Behrend and the Michigan State University Future of Work Initiative. We had a great visit to Lansing Community College's Center for Manufacturing Excellence (thank you Lee Gardner!), a thought-provoking roundtable at MSU to discuss workforce development in the Capital Region's emerging battery and other high-tech industries withCapital Area Manufacturing CouncillLansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Capital Area Michigan Works! Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO) LCC Michigan Economic Development Corporation Lansing Economic Area Partnership | LEAP Lansing School District and other community partners (kudos Carriee and Janet!), and finally, a fireside chat with University affiliates.

Huge thank you to everyone who welcomed me to Michigan and made this trip such an amazing learning experience. I'm really excited to feature the inspiring work happening in the state in my New American Frontier book & research!
