EVERYTHING’S GNARLY: Today at the second pep rally of the school year, among performances from the cheer team, and Blue Brigade, the K-pop dance team, BLU3 Dance Crew, performed two dance routines. The first routine they performed was to “Jenny from the Block” by Jennifer Lopez, a cover that had previously been done by a K-pop group, Baby Monster, and the second to “Gnarly” by KATSEYE, a seniors-only dance. Junior and third-year member Lexi Petersen, performed in the first routine and said overall the performances of this pep rally went significantly better than their last few.

“I feel like the first time we had a few mishaps, and it was kind of worst case scenario,” she said. “So this time when everything went well, it felt really great.”

Petersen said she has enjoyed being a part of this dance group, and despite having no dance experience prior, has felt included and a valued member of the team.

“I really love being in [BLU3],” she said. “Even if I didn’t like K-pop, I’d still be there for the people, because they are so sweet.”

Petersen said this pep rally they choose songs they want to perform covers to, and gather members who want to participate.

“We base it off how many members are available,” she said. “Then we make a list and vote on dances we want, and the members we want to be in the specific dances.”

Petersen said she was happy this pep rally went smoothly, and is excited for future performances.
