Residents in the #BalaCynwyd section of Lower Merion Township were told to shelter-in-place until they hear otherwise as police search for three armed people Friday afternoon.

Schools in the area — including Belmont Hills ES, Cynwyd ES, Merion ES, Penn Valley ES, Penn Wynne ES, Bala Cynwyd MS, Welsh Valley MS, and Lower Merion HS — are locked down as a precaution, the Lower Merion School District said.

The Lower Merion School District said police are pursuing a robbery suspect and urged parents not to go to its school buildings or pick up their children until further notice out of an abundance of caution.
