When former Social Security Administration acting Commissioner Leland Dudek was first elevated into his position by President Donald Trump after going around his bosses to connect with DOGE, he was hopeful. 

He believed the agency was in need of a technological upgrade and that the DOGErs could help implement it. Instead, DOGE ignored urgently needed reforms at the agency in favor of quick and often empty wins.
