The BMW M8 Competition is powered by a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 (BMW S63) that outputs around 617 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 553 lb-ft (≈ 750 Nm) of torque from 1,800 rpm.

It uses BMW’s 8-speed “M Steptronic” torque-converter automatic transmission and routes power via an M xDrive all-wheel drive system with the ability to decouple the front axle for rear-wheel drive bias.

In the Competition version, the engine features upgraded induction, stiffer engine mounts, and more aggressive tuning for sharper throttle response and rigid operation.
