LIONS CLAIM DUAL WINS: It was a successful weekend for the jserrahockey team, as the Lions produced two victories in ADHSHL action at Great Park Ice and FivePoint Arena in Irvine.

JSerra started the weekend with a 3-1 victory over the Yorba Linda Mustangs on Friday night.

The Mustangs tallied a power play goal to take a 1-0 lead with 9:31 left in the first period, but freshman Aaron Lee tied the game with an unassisted goal at the 7:40 mark of the period.

Senior Cassius Millett gave JSerra a 2-1 lead with 1:22 remaining in the opening period with a goal assisted by Lee.

Freshman Kyle Bennett’s power play goal (his team-leading seventh of the season) at the 11:06 mark of the second period, assisted by junior Caden Fernandez, provided the final score of the contest.

Junior goalie Jacob White was stout between the pipes for the Lions, producing 22 saves.

JSerra battled the Saddleback United Wranglers on Saturday in an exciting back and forth contest.

The Lions took a 1-0 lead with 12:10 left in the first period, as freshman Luke Chumo found the back of the net, assisted by junior Griffin Blake and Fernandez.

JSerra scored three times in the final 4:12 of the second period.

Blake recorded his fifth goal of the season on a power play, assisted by Millett, while Lee added an unassisted power play goal and an unassisted shorthanded goal (his fifth and sixth goals of the season) to give the Lions a 4-0 lead.

The Wranglers answered by scoring four consecutive goals, including the game-tying goal with 56 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime.

Millett proved to be the hero for the Lions, scoring an unassisted game-winner at the 4:51 mark of overtime.

White had another strong game with 27 saves, his fourth ADHSHL game of 20 or more saves.
