Sept 8, 2009. Kunar Province, Afghanistan. Cpt. William Swenson and his team were ambushed by 60 heavily armed enemy fighters. 🧵 

For six hours, Swenson led the counter assault and risked his life above and beyond the call of duty several times to rescue his teammates and recover the fallen.
