Dicks Sporting Goods buys Footlocker & I think I see the vision 🤔 It seems like many were shocked that Dicks Sporting Goods purchased Footlocker for a few reasons — 1. Isn’t Footlocker Dead? & 2. DICKS is popping like that?

Dicks has had major success in hitting their demographic of Affluent Families, but the purchase of Footlocker is to take a stab at a different audience — the urban, middle to lower class youth. 

Also, Footlocker has international presence which I think is appealing to Dicks Sporting Goods, who only operates in the US. There’s no expected change other than ownership! Footlocker is expected to continue to lean into their plan while Dicks supports the backend. 

The facts are, Footlocker is Dead & it is a risk. However, I do understand the play & why Dicks would take the risk & overpay on a brand that seems to be dead. No risk no reward Dicks Sporting Goods is tryna play ball.
