RAISING KIDS IN A DIGITAL WORLD 💻❤️ we’re constantly thinking about how to raise kind, confident, and safe kids—especially in today’s digital world. Dorian and I attended instagram’s Screen Smart event, and it truly gave us a new perspective on what it means to guide our kids online.

We walked away with so many valuable takeaways:

1️⃣ Delay social media as long as you can—and when the time comes, sit down and get curious about your child’s “why.” What do they hope to find there? What are they excited (or nervous) about? It’s not just about saying “yes” or “no”—it’s about understanding the deeper conversation.

2️⃣ Create and model healthy screen boundaries at home. For us it’s screen-free meals, charging phones outside bedrooms, and having tech “off” hours. Our kids learn more from what we do than what we say.

3️⃣ Use Instagram’s built-in tools to help shape your teen’s experience—from message limits and content filters to language that invites connection and understanding.

The event reminded us that it’s not just about control—it’s about support, communication, and staying involved. We may not be able to protect our kids from everything, but we can help them feel safer, seen, and supported in every space—including online.
