ok it’s (obv) yapping time! ٩(^ᴗ^)۶
anyone that knows me knows i have a lot of critiques about vcu and art school and often feel like i don’t fit in despite being in a place technically made for people that don’t fit in — my art is overly conceptual for class but also my work life is super corporate and it feels like i’m in constant limbo. however, getting the chance to really say f*ck everyone else im doing what i want, as overly conceptual/confusing/contemporary/wtf as i want, has been so liberating and made me appreciate creating a body of art in a way that i haven’t felt in a long time. while i love working in the music/entertainment industry, i wanted to use my undergrad project as a way to capture my overarching investigation across most of my works in art school — researching xenofeminism, shitposting, oversharing online, girlhood as performance, etc. etc. etc.
if you don’t get it, that’s fine! the girlies (nongendered) that get it, get it, the girlies that don’t, don’t! my roots will always be in contemporary art and installation, and nothing will ever change my eternal love and appreciation for it <3
