2. How to be an Antiracist — one of the most powerful and important books I’ve read, ibramxk teaches and illustrates through his own life journey.

3. The Checklist Manifesto — atul.gawande shows the power and at times lifesaving impact of a simple checklist in our hectic work and lives.

4. Our Time is Now — for those particularly in the U.S. an illuminating read by the incomparable staceyabrams on voter suppression and protecting democracy.

5. Salvage the Bones — my favorite fiction read this year jesmynward had me gripped in this haunting story of everyday survival in rural poverty.
