This week’s #MoodySpotlight is DeMarco Avila, a senior advertising major from San Antonio, Texas.

DeMarco started his journey on the Forty Acres as a psychology major but chose #TEXASMoody to explore his passions in a more creative and applied way. “Advertising through Moody felt like the perfect intersection of understanding people and using that insight to tell stories, build strategies, and shape culture in meaningful ways.” He said he’s glad he made the switch!

His favorite thing about Moody College is the people. “From day one, my sophomore year, I felt like I had stepped into a community that genuinely wanted me to succeed. Even now, my professors feel like mentors who care about what I bring to the table and push me to grow.”

DeMarco’s favorite Moody memory is pitching to DoorDash for Texas Media & Analytics. “It was an incredibly intense yet rewarding project that I am incredibly grateful to have been a part of.”

This summer, he worked as a marketing intern for Stryker, a leading medical technology company. “It gave me the chance to support global sales initiatives and dive deep into the world of operating room equipment.” One of his favorite projects was learning how to use Power BI to visualize data and track competitive product specs. He also enjoyed collaborating with his global teammates! If any students are interested in learning more about the medical technology industry, he is available to answer your questions!

DeMarco is looking forward to all the challenges his final two semesters have in store for him!
