On September 18th one of my best friends jordanhall_wx and myself booked tickets to an island we had never heard of, or even knew existed ahead of Super Typhoon Ragasa. An island so small, you have to zoom all the way into Google Maps to even see. With high confidence of an impact we booked our tickets 8 hours before takeoff. Not knowing what to expect being in a foreign country all the way across the world for the first time, we were nervous and didn’t know what to expect.

What we got however wasn’t just a storm to chase. What we got was a hidden paradise in plain sight and memories I will cherish until the day I die. The amount of love, and warm welcome we had in the Philippines was nothing short of incredible as the island welcomed with open arms. Once word got around that American storm chasers were on the island we’d be driving our motorcycles down the street I lost track of the amount of good mornings and “hello Jordan and Aaron’s” that we got and don’t even get me started on the food. Dinner made straight out of locals homes from chickens, cows, and fish caught or killed that morning right on the island cooked with love like mama used to make. We were even doing some drone work when local EMS stopped by for photos with us and even the local law enforcement! Then, we discovered that the island is built around honesty and the good in everyone and even had a place called the honesty cafe. Where we stood awkwardly for 10 minutes because we couldn’t find a worker and that’s well, because there are none! You pay for what you take in a little box and carry on about your day. We even got rewarded battle coins from the governor for our positivity and awareness we brought to the island!

Around every corner it was like we were in an untouched version of Hawaii. Places so magical it looked like a National Park but with no people or rude tourists and at night, man oh man the stars shimmered like a galactical film. The Milky Way shining so bright you could make out individual space dust clouds inside the core as waves gently crashed along the shore. A place I’ll never forget.
