What city should we visit next? 🤔

Huge thank you to continental_tire for helping the Soccer Bus travel from Nashville to Austin for the Open Cup Final! 

Here’s a few things our friends in Austin showed us while we were in town: 

1. Pickup soccer at Auditorium Shores with a breathtaking view of the Austin skyline.

2. Tifo set-up and practice the day before the US Open Cup Final. Got to learn how tifos are made and the incredible effort and coordination it takes to lift it. It was awesome to see it raised on matchday without a hitch! Reach out to losverdesatx on Instagram or through the email on their profile if you’d like to volunteer.

3. Hang out with supporters at Hopsquad Brewing Co (the usual spot where fans gather before matches), and join the incredible march to the stadium with flares, drums, and trumpets. So awesome to see losverdesatx in action.

4. Meet the unofficial mascots of the team. Unsure how to feel about Speed Bump, but we personally loved Pollo! The story goes he was confiscated at any away game in DC for 80 minutes. Once security finally returned the now-iconic rubber chicken to the fans, Austin was able to score three goals in ten minutes and overturn a 2-0 deficit. From there, Pollo claimed his cult hero status and never looked back.

5. Watch the entire game in the heart of the supporters’ section, right next to lamurgaatx. On top of how amazingly loud the fans were all game, the music and the chants were top tier. Still have them stuck in our heads, but thankfully we were able to buy a vinyl with all the songs. The album was recorded in a local church, and it has all their best hits as you’d hear them in the stadium. 5 Stars!

6. We couldn’t leave Austin without trying some of its world-renowned food scene. Our friends took us to a BBQ joint. They mentioned a lot of tourists like to visit the spot we went to, but that it is well rated by locals as well. We all really enjoyed it.
