🐹❗️ Kia has officially confirmed that the 2025 model year will mark the end of the Soul’s production in the U.S., ending a 15-year run of its iconic boxy crossover.

The Soul was once one of Kia’s best-selling models, moving over 1.5 million units since launch, but sales have dropped significantly in recent years.

The decision to discontinue the Soul stems from declining demand for small hatchbacks and Kia’s shift toward higher-margin SUVs and EVs.

By 2024, Soul sales had fallen around 14% compared to the prior year, and only about 41,000 units were sold by mid-2025.

The Soul was also the cheapest Kia model, starting at roughly $21,935, meaning its removal leaves no low-cost entry vehicle in Kia’s lineup.

Production is set to end by late 2025, with the new Kia K4 compact sedan taking its place as the brand’s entry model, though at a much higher starting price around $32,000.

The Kia Soul became a pop culture icon thanks to the “hamster” commercials, which first appeared in 2009 under the “A New Way to Roll” campaign.

These ads, featuring dancing hamsters to tracks like “The Choice Is Yours” and “Party Rock Anthem,” made the Soul famous among younger buyers.

The campaign won multiple awards, including Nielsen’s “Automotive Ad of the Year,” and helped redefine Kia’s brand identity from basic to bold.

Over the years, the hamsters evolved visually, even “transforming” in later ads to reflect updated models of the Soul and new pop-culture trends.

Even though production is ending, the Soul’s quirky design and marketing legacy will likely make it a future cult classic among enthusiasts.
