Apple Cinnamon Cathead Biscuits with Whipped Salted Vanilla Maple Butter 🍎🧈🍂 I have to admit… I think fall baking is far superior. It’s cozy, warm, and full of all of my personal favorite flavors. These cathead biscuits are basically all of my favorite flavors combined- apple, cinnamon, brown sugar, and maple????? IN A BISCUIT? Pleeaaasssseeeeeee. INGREDIENTS: DOUGH • 1 large apple, peeled & diced (I used gala) • 2 tsp brown sugar • 1/8 tsp cinnamon • 1/4 cup @King Arthur Baking Cinnamon Sweet Bits • 12 tbsp salted butter, cold & cubed • 2 cups cake flour • 1 cup all-purpose flour • 1 tbsp baking powder • 1/2 tsp baking soda • 1/2 tsp salt • 1 cup buttermilk • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt CRUMBLE TOPPING • 1/4 brown sugar • 1 tsp cinnamon BUTTER • 1/2 cup salted butter • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste • 1 tsp maple syrup DIRECTIONS: • Preheat oven to 425°F. Generously butter a cast-iron skillet (or line a cookie sheet with parchment if not using a skillet). Set aside. • Cube cold, salted butter and place it in the freezer for 10–20 minutes so it stays extra cold. • Peel and dice one apple into small pea-sized pieces. Toss with brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside. • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon to create the topping. Set aside. • In a large bowl, whisk together cake flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. • Remove butter from the freezer and cut it into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter or forks until the butter is pea-sized. • Make a well in the center. Add buttermilk and Greek yogurt. Stir with a dough whisk or wooden spoon until just combined, then use your hands to gently bring the dough together (don’t overwork). • Add the prepared apple mixture and cinnamon baking chips. Gently knead/fold the dough until mix-ins are evenly distributed, but don’t handle too long or the butter may soften. • Use a large cookie scoop to portion dough into balls and place them into the prepared skillet. • Brush the tops with cream or buttermilk, then generously sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar topping. • Bake at 425°F for 25–30 minutes, until biscuits are golden brown and cooked through. • While biscuits bake, prepare the butter: beat together salted butter, vanilla bean paste, and maple syrup until light and fluffy. • Let biscuits cool for 5 minutes, then serve warm with salted maple vanilla butter. #fallbaking #biscuitrecipe #food #biscuits #applerecipes
