American Councils IVLP on Instagram: "This past summer, a group of Canadian leaders participated in the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). Participants had a fully packed schedule across several states on the topic of Strengthening North-American Cooperation in the Arctic, which culminated in a rewarding stay in Anchorage, Alaska.
 
Highlights included a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center (@akwildlife), which gave participants the chance to learn about the U.S.-Canadian Wood Bison Reintroduction program in the area. Pictured above, you can even see the group feed ‘Jo’, one of the resident moose at AWCC! 
 
A full schedule also included meeting with the Alaska Federation of Natives (@nativefed) and the Alaska Native Heritage Center (@akheritagecenter), who gave the group an immersive education into the culture of Alaska’s Native people, and additionally, a visit to the Alaska SeaLife Center (@alaskasealifecenter) in Seward. There, participants learned about research and rehabilitation efforts, and toured their aquarium. 
 
This full day in Anchorage alongside many more meetings across the U.S. deepened program participants’ understanding of the U.S. perspective on a wide variety of Arctic issues. Thank you to all of the resources and people along the way who gave their time and expertise to make this program a success, especially our wonderful CBM partners: @worldboston @worldaffairscouncilme and @worlddenver!"
