Our bi-annual ETA Spring Conference started today! The last time we saw our 2022 ETAs was during the 2022 ETA Orientation Training Program’s Departure Day Ceremony. 

The Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Program gives American college graduates the opportunity to teach English in Korean elementary and secondary schools. After 6 weeks of receiving training on teaching pedagogy and Korean language and culture, Orientation culminated in a Departure Day ceremony. There, ETAs met Office of Education officials and their co-teachers before leaving for their 10-month grant in placement cities across the country. In the pictures above, you can see 2022 ETAs posing for a group photo as well as smaller group photos based on their placement province.

2022-2023 풀브라이트 원어민 영어 보조교사 (Fulbright English Teaching Assistant) 프로그램에 선발된 미국인 장학생 (ETA)들은 현재 한국의 각 지역별 초, 중, 고등학교에서 원어민 선생님으로 근무하고 있습니다. 각 학교에 배치되기 전 ETA들은 한국에 도착하자마자 6주 동안 오리엔테이션 연수 프로그램을 통해 한국어와 한국 문화, 교수법을 열심히 배웠습니다. 한국 학생들을 만나기 위해 많은 준비를 했던 것이지요. 

오리엔테이션을 마무리하는 마지막 날을 Departure Day라고 하는데요. 바로 ETA들이 본인이 소속될 학교의 co-teacher를 만나 학교로 출발하는 날이기 때문입니다. 전체 ETA가 포함된 단체사진을 넘겨보시면, 지역별 ETA 모습, co-teacher와 함께 한 모습 등 그날을 느낄 수 있는 다양한 사진을 보실 수 있답니다. 

금요일인 오늘부터 한국에 있는 모든 ETA들이 경주에서 함께 모여 Spring Conference를 진행합니다. Departure Day 이후 모두 함께 모이는 첫 공식 행사라 저희도 너무 기대됩니다! ETAs! 우리 곧 만나요!
