It’s been approximately 6 months since we concluded our intensive Korean Language course for our English Teaching Assistant (ETA) grantees. 

This past February, 2022 English Teaching Assistant (ETA) grantees were recognized for their hard work in acquiring Korean skills over a five-week private course completed with Korea University’s Korean Language Center (KU KLC). Each class had an Academic Excellence Award and Outstanding Effort Award recipient, and all ETAs received completion certificates. The ceremony also featured a range of ETA performances highlighting their language abilities, including a rendition of the traditional folk song Arirang! 

Since leaving Orientation, our ETAs have continued to use their Korean language skills and have spent time learning more Korean to enrich their time in Korea. We’re so proud of all of their accomplishments, both during Orientation and during the grant year! 화이팅 ETAs! 

올 초 ETA가 처음 한국에 도착한 후, 고려대학교 한국어센터 진행된 한국어 프로그램을 통해  풀브라이트 원어민 영어 보조 교사 (ETA)들은 5주 동안 한국어와 한국 문화 수업을 들으며 한국에 대한 이해뿐 아니라 한국어 실력도 신장시킬 수 있었습니다. 이번 사진에는 수료식 공연, 수료증 수여, 우수상과 노력상 수여, 또한 5주의 소중한 기억과 배움을 축하하는 ETA 모습이 담겨 있습니다. 

저때로부터 벌써 6개월이라는 시간이 지났으니, 지금쯤 우리가 ETA들의 한국어 실력이 훨씬 좋아졌겠지요? 일상에서도 열심히 한국어를 사용하며 수업 이후로 꾸준히 실력을 쌓아간 것이 자랑스럽습니다. 한국어를 통해 한국문화를 배워가고 있는 모든 ETA들 화이팅입니다!
