I remember the old me. The version of myself who was self-loathing, hopeless, & depressed.. riddled with anxiety, medical issues and a body that attacked itself internally in the form of autoimmune diseases. That version who had to secretly turn to food to fill a void in an unhappy relationship, hiding snacks & chocolate bars in my car so I could take them to work because I knew if I ate them in front of him, he would have something to say. “You don’t need that.” “I thought you were trying to lose weight.” “You wonder why we haven’t gotten married yet, I’m not marrying an overweight girl.” “You’re nothing special, I can get any girl I want.” - just some of the sentences burned in my mind. 
Years have passed and I put in the work. I lost weight and became a new version of myself - this one is stronger both physically & mentally and healthier than ever, in so many ways. But don’t get me wrong, I still struggle. Body dysmorphia is real. Some days I look in the mirror and still see the larger version of myself. I’ll see pictures others have taken of me and think “oh no, am I gaining weight again? I look huge!” 
It’s a process. It’s a journey. But I’m so incredibly grateful that I have the strength to continuously choose to walk this path instead of giving up, succumbing to the sadness and basking in self hatred. I choose hope. I choose faith. I choose self love. Everyday. This wasn’t a walk in the fucking park - it was, and still is, a climb up a mountain. But man, the view from here is worth it all.
