Learn how to change the oil and filter on a BMW X3 (G01) with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder (B48) engine.

This DIY guide applies to 2018–2024 BMW X3 xDrive30i and sDrive30i models, and X3 xDrive30e plug-in hybrid. 

We walk through every step — removing the engine cover, draining the oil, replacing the crush washer and filter, refilling, and resetting the service reminder.


🧰 What You Need

Oil & Parts
 • 6L of 0W-20 BMW TwinPower Turbo synthetic oil (fill spec: 5.5L)
 • Oil Filter Kit (filter, O-ring gasket, copper crush washer)
 • Used Oil Catch Pan

Tools
 • 27mm socket – oil filter housing
 • 17mm socket – oil drain plug

Recommended
 • Extensions for sockets
 • Torque wrench (25 Nm / 18 ft-lb)
 • Shop towels
 • Funnel for clean refills
