I bought these denim shorts exactly a year ago, after I had already lost 40lbs. They were a little snug at the time but I purposely bought them smaller because I was determined to lose more weight. And I definitely did. It’s crazy to think about the fact that I wore twice the size of those at the beginning of my journey. 

I was previously in a relationship with a man who constantly reminded me that I was overweight and needed to lose weight. It wouldn’t always be outwardly “you need to lose weight”, it would be small, yet effectively hurtful jabs like
“You don’t need that”
“I thought you were on a diet?”
“That’s too tight, you should change”
“How are you hungry?”
“You don’t need dessert”
“I’m sure that’s a lot of calories”
And my personal favorite: One time at the early stages of our relationship, I asked him why we didn’t go out to eat anymore, but he always took his ex out to various restaurants, he replied “well, she was skinny. You’re.. not. You’re probably the biggest girl I’ve ever been with.”
Now, mind you… that was before I experienced medical weight gain. 
Even when I was smaller, I was never good enough. 
It’s partially this realization in therapy which drove me to the place I’m in today.
Working on becoming the best version of myself so that I’ll never allow anyone to make me feel as if I’m not good enough. Because I am enough. And ya know what? For the right person, I’ll be more than enough.
