⛲️ Envie de se balader ce week-end ? 👀 En regardant la terre depuis l’espace, on tombe parfois sur des merveilles de la nature... et parfois sur des merveilles d’origine humaine ! 

🏰 ⚜️ Le chateau de Versailles est de cette deuxième catégorie, lui qui m’avait impressionné quand j’étais adolescent et que mes parents nous l’avaient fait découvrir…

📸 Vu d’en haut pendant ma mission de 2021, ce sont les jardins à la française, géométriques et parfaits, qui attirent d’abord l’œil ! 🪏 J’en avais publié une photo à l’époque, différente de celle-ci.

🎯 Fun fact : le domaine de Versailles s’étend sur plus de 800 hectares ! Et malgré les nuages, c’est un site humain qu’on peut repérer assez facilement… si on sait où chercher 😉

Bonus à ceux et celles qui savent reconnaître l’aéroport en bas à droite !!

👀 From orbit, some wonders of nature catch your eye… and some human-made ones too. Versailles is definitely in the latter category.

🌞Louis XIV didn’t only mean the palace to impress. The gardens were just as important. They were designed as a symbol of order, symmetry, and mankind’s control over nature, a direct metaphor for the Sun King’s absolute reign.

🚿 What fascinates me the most about these gardens is something you can’t see from space: the water system. In the 17th century, there wasn’t enough water to power all the fountains. So thousands of workers built an incredible network of reservoirs, pumps, and even a giant contraption called the Machine de Marly, designed to divert water from the Seine to Versailles. It was considered one of the great engineering feats of its time.

🔁 In space, managing water flow and pressure is still a matter of life support — quite literally. But on the ground, strolling through these gardens, you only see the result: a stunning ballet of water and greenery.
