So happy for my Indian friends !🥳 ISRO has made public today the names of their first 4 astronauts, and after bumping into them behind the scenes a few times 🤫, I’m thrilled they received their astronaut wings from isro.dos and the leadership of India, it’s well deserved, they’re great people! Prasanth Nair, Angad Prathap, Ajit Krishnan and Shubanshu Shukla all come from the Indian air force and their backgrounds as test pilots, as well as training with #ISRO and other space agencies prepares them to handle the challenges of future space missions -no doubt that India also has many valide female candidates and we will see them in the other selections to come. India is really making big strides in space exploration today, and like all major powers they’ve laid out ambitious plans for low earth orbit and the moon. I dream of one day flying with one of them, in the framework of the iss program, with their own #Gaganyaan capsule, or to the moon 🌖.

👨🏽‍🚀👨🏽‍🚀👨🏽‍🚀👨🏽‍🚀🇮🇳Bravo à nos quatre nouveaux collègues indiens, et l’exploration spatiale devient encore un peu plus internationale aujourd’hui! Prasanth, Angad, Ajit et Shubanshu sont tous les quatre pilotes de chasse et l’Inde les a sélectionnés pour leur premier recrutement d’astronautes ! Nul doute que les prochaines promotions feront la part belle aux femmes... Ils se sont déjà entraînés dans divers centres des nations de l’ISS, et je les connais depuis un moment, même s’ils ne sont annoncés publiquement qu’aujourd’hui 🤫. Je suis heureux pour eux, tout en mesurant l’ampleur de la tâche qui les attend : porter les aspirations de 1.4 milliards d’Indiens vers les étoiles. ✨L’inde, comme toutes les grandes puissances, a annoncé un programme ambitieux de maîtrise de l’orbite basse et d’exploration de la lune. 🌓 Que ce soit sur la station spatiale, où on pourrait bien les voir bientôt, ou dans leur capsule nationale Gaganyaan en cours de développement, ce serait une aventure formidable et une belle coopération de voler avec eux. 🤞
