A cosmic deep dive like never before… ✨

This stunning image from esawebb revisits the iconic hubbleesa Ultra Deep Field – but through Webb’s mid- and near-infrared eyes. The result? One of the deepest views of the Universe ever captured.

Taken over nearly 100 hours, this small patch of sky – known as the  Mid-Infrared Instrument Deep Imaging Survey (MIDIS) region – contains more than 2500 distant galaxies. Some date back to the dawn of cosmic time, revealing what the Universe looked like just a few hundred million years after the Big Bang.

Orange and red galaxies are dusty or actively forming stars. Greenish-white ones? They’re incredibly far away. And those in blue and cyan shine brightest in near-infrared light.

By peering this deep, Webb lets astronomers study how galaxies grow and evolve, and even spot the ones that would have been invisible to earlier telescopes.
