Happy Eid from space! 🕋

As millions around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, we’re joining the festivities with a unique perspective from 400 km above Earth, captured by our astronaut thom_astro aboard the iss.

Known as the Festival of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha commemorates the story of the Prophet Ibrahim and it also marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

Swipe through to see Mecca during the day and night, along with timelapses of the Middle East from space. These breathtaking views highlight the beauty of our shared planet.

Are you celebrating Eid? We’d love to hear about your traditions in the comments.
