Which galaxy catches your eye first? ✨

This breathtaking new view from esawebb reveals thousands of galaxies — from stars within our Milky Way to ancient giants billions of light-years away.

At the heart of it all: a dazzling galaxy group glowing with white-gold light, seen as it was when the Universe was just 6.5 billion years old — not even halfway through its cosmic journey.

Why is this so exciting?
Galaxy groups like this are the building blocks of galaxy clusters — the largest structures in the Universe — and studying them helps us piece together the incredible story of how the cosmos evolved.

And there’s more: the second image layers in X-ray data (shown in purple!) from our XMM-Newton and nasachandraxray, revealing scorching hot gas swirling within the group.

Take a moment to explore this galactic buffet — spirals, warped discs, merging galaxies, and colours that hint at a galaxy’s age and distance. COSMOS-Web, one of Webb’s largest surveys, is helping us peer back to when the Universe was just a cosmic toddler!
