50 years together! 🚀

On 30 May 1975, ten founding Member States came together to sign the ESA Convention, and we officially began our journey as the European Space Agency.

Since then, we’ve launched satellites, explored distant worlds, watched over our planet, gazed into the early Universe, and supported astronauts on their journeys into orbit and beyond. For five decades, we’ve been proud to serve Europe as its space agency, turning bold ideas into breakthrough missions.

This anniversary is not only a time to reflect on how far we’ve come. It’s also a moment to look ahead — to the next generation of explorers, discoveries and innovations.

Swipe through to explore some of the missions and milestones that have shaped our journey so far. And now we’d love to hear from you!

- What’s your favourite "ESA moment" from the past 50 years?
