Ramadan Mubarak! 🌙

The sighting of the crescent Moon marks the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan for millions around the world. To celebrate, let’s take a journey across the Solar System through stunning crescent views of planets and moons captured by spacecraft over the years.

1. First, we have a crescent Earth rising above the lunar horizon, as seen by the Orion spacecraft during the Artemis I mission. A reminder of our fragile yet beautiful home.

2. Next, Saturn’s moon Iapetus, a world of stark contrasts. Its dramatic light and dark surface and towering equatorial ridge make it one of the most mysterious moons in the Solar System.

3. Then, a crescent Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. This image, taken in infrared, reveals the thick atmosphere of this distant, hazy world—a place where rivers of liquid methane carve through an alien landscape.

4. We also have a sliver of Rhea, another of Saturn’s moons, glowing softly in the darkness of space.

5. A crescent Enceladus joins the scene, with faint jets of water ice erupting from its south pole—evidence of a vast ocean hidden beneath its icy crust.

6. And finally, a rare sight—crescent Mars! Captured by the Rosetta spacecraft, the thin crescent of the Red Planet is illuminated by sunlight, with a hint of nightglow in its atmosphere.

From Earth’s Moon to the far reaches of the Solar System, crescents remind us of cycles, renewal, and the beauty of the cosmos.

We are wishing a blessed Ramadan to all who celebrate!
