To new and happy beginnings – Happy Nowruz! 🌱

Today is a day of balance, joy, and renewal! As the equinox arrives at 10:01 CET, day and night stand in perfect harmony, marking the start of spring in the northern hemisphere and autumn in the south.

This celestial moment is also at the heart of Nowruz, the Persian New Year! A time of fresh starts, hope, and light, Nowruz invites us to embrace change and welcome new possibilities.

And as if that weren’t enough, today is also the International Day of Happiness – a perfect reminder to find joy in the cosmos, in our connections, and in the wonders that surround us.

To celebrate, we’re taking you on a journey to Sharpless 2-106 (S106) – a mesmerising stellar nursery where new stars are being born, just as new beginnings unfold here on Earth. At its heart, a massive young star, IRS 4, is sculpting an angelic, hourglass-shaped nebula, swirling with clouds of gas and dust. Hidden within its cosmic glow are hundreds of brown dwarfs, silent witnesses to the birth of stars.

Swipe through to explore:
- A stunning image of S106, where new stars take flight
- A cosmic journey through the nebula’s swirling gas and dust
- A closer look at the celestial ‘snow angel’ shaped by stellar winds
- A deep dive into this magnificent star-forming region

As we celebrate new beginnings, light, and happiness, let’s reflect: What fresh start are you embracing this year?
