Wrapping up a fantastic time at #IAC2024 in Milan! 

It’s been an exciting few days with the europeanspaceagency, diving into the latest developments in astronautical exploration and the tech pushing us beyond Low Earth Orbit. 

Highlights included the signing of the #Moonlight initiative, which aims to create a satellite constellation around the Moon, and discussions on the #Argonaut lander, a key player in building long-term lunar infrastructure for the #Artemis programme. 

I also enjoyed exploring the unesco & ESA “Our Oceans from Space” exhibition, which showcased how satellite data reveals the interconnectedness of our planet’s oceans and ecosystems. It serves as a powerful reminder of their fragility and the importance of protecting them. The stunning imagery I captured during my time on the ISS echoes this reality, emphasising our responsibility toward Earth.

Spannende Tage mit der ESA beim IAC 2024 in Mailand! 

Ein besonderes Highlight war die Unterzeichnung der #Moonlight-Initiative, die die Schaffung einer Satellitenkonstellation rund um den Mond zum Ziel hat. Zudem haben wir über den #Argonaut-Lander gesprochen, der eine entscheidende Rolle beim Aufbau der Infrastruktur auf der Mondoberfläche im Rahmen des #Artemis-Programms spielt. 

Ein eindrucksvolles Erlebnis bot die gemeinsame UNESCO/ESA-Ausstellung „Our Oceans from Space“. Diese zeigt auf beeindruckende Weise, wie Satellitendaten die Vernetzung unserer Ozeane und Ökosysteme verdeutlichen. Es ist ein eindringlicher Hinweis auf die Zerbrechlichkeit unseres Planeten und die immense Bedeutung, ihn zu schützen. Die beeindruckenden Bilder, die ich während meines Aufenthalts auf der ISS festhalten konnte, unterstreichen diese Botschaft und erinnern uns an unsere Verantwortung für die Erde.
