#InternationalMoonDay reminds me of the awe I felt when I saw this stunning #moonrise from the iss during my #BlueDot mission, unexpectedly emerging from behind Earth within a few seconds. To add to the picture, I added nasa DSCOVR’s distant view of the Moon’s far side, and a close-up showing my fellow-geoscientist colleague Jack Schmitt with his hands in the lunar dirt during #Apollo17. Together, these perspectives tell compelling stories of exploration and discovery. And of a journey that has actually just begun — #ForwardToTheMoon, together.

Der International Moon Day erinnert mich an einen faszinierenden Moment während meiner BlueDot-Mission, als ich von der #ISS aus völlig unerwartet diesen beeindruckenden Mondaufgang erlebte. Zusätzlich möchte ich zwei meiner Lieblingsbilder teilen: einen Fernblick aufgenommen von der NASA DSCOVR Sonde, der die Rückseite des Mondes vor der Erde zeigt, und ein Foto, das meinen Geowissenschaftler-Kollegen Jack Schmitt während der Apollo17-Mission zeigt, inmitten von Mondstaub und Felsen. Diese Perspektiven erzählen spannende Geschichten von Entdeckung und Erkundung, und erinnern uns daran, dass unsere Reise in die faszinierendsten Ecken unseres Sonnensystems gerade erst begonnen hat.
