‼️BIG NEWS on Geospatial AI at Day 2️⃣ of the IAC 2025. UNOOSA is proud to launch a new policy brief, on “Ensuring Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Space and Earth Observation”. The policy brief outlines 5️⃣ clear objectives for building a fair and inclusive GeoAI ecosystem, from ethical and transparent AI in missions to equitable access to datasets and geospatial foundation models. 📖 Read the 5 objectives and the full brief via link in bio!

📣🌐 Day 2 also saw a Heads of Space Agencies session. Director Aarti Holla-Maini commented that the voice of the Indo-Pacific needs to be heard and that, in their absence, UNOOSA will champion their interests on the global stage. “If we measure success in terms of the number of launches and new missions, we will get more launches and more missions. If we measure learning hours added through connectivity, farm incomes stabilized through advisories, lives protected through early warning, we will get an economy that pays back—socially and financially."

🌌🌊 The Director participated in a Pacific Panel session “From Sky to Sea: Space Technologies for Enabling Resilience and Connectivity in the Pacific” at IAC 2025 by Australia and held productive bilateral meetings with 🇹🇴, 🇫🇯 and the 🇨🇰. Hamid Mehmood, Head of the UN Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) Office in Beijing and GeoAI lead, participated in the IAC 2025 Special Session: "Early Warnings for All - From Satellites to Action".

👨‍🚀👩🏿‍🚀We closed with a powerful reception with Space for Humanity, sponsored by Alpha Funds, where citizen astronauts J.D. Russell, Aisha Bowe, Dr. Chris Boshuizen/“Dr. Chrispy”, and Ari Eisenstat, Aarti Holla-Maini, Andrew Marchetti, Dr. Jancy McPhee spoke of the benefits of space for humanity and the role of international cooperation to make the world a more peaceful and prosperous place.
