👩‍🚀Space is about turning barriers into launchpads 🚀 At the Cartier Women's Pavilion at #Expo2025 in 🇯🇵 Osaka, Director and International Gender Champion Aarti Holla-Maini joined civil rights advocate and astronaut Amanda Nguyen and Mitsubishi Electric space engineer Mina Bernadoy in a panel moderated by Charlotte Kan: "Expanding Horizons: Pushing Boundaries in Space, Science & Society." 

Each of these remarkable women has defied expectations, challenging the roles others imagined for them to fully realise their own. Whether facing barriers because of gender, class, geography or trauma, they didn’t follow a set path. They forged their own. Their message: Once you break the glass ceiling, the rest become that bit easier to overcome. ✨

On this International Day of Women in Diplomacy, UNOOSA reaffirms that space should be accessible to everyone. Director Holla-Maini is proud to deliver opening remarks at dedicated roundtable discussion on women in space diplomacy by the African Space Leadership Institute (ASLI). 

Our commitment extends beyond panel talks: UNOOSA's #Space4Women initiative surveys the space sector, raises awareness, and provides solutions to advance gender equality across the industry, from astronauts to engineers, scientists, and policymakers.
