Today is #WorldHealthDay! 🍎 An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but when you need medical attention, space bridges the gap. Space technology is shaping the future of #GlobalHealth in ways we rarely think about:
 
🛰️ Satellite connectivity brings telemedicine to remote areas, ensuring doctors can reach patients anywhere.
💉 Remote sensing tracks disease outbreaks, improving early warning systems for public health responses.
🧬 Experiments in space advance drug development and could lead to 3D printing organs in microgravity!
 
🍼 This year’s theme, “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures” highlights maternal and newborn health. Space innovations are playing a role here too: Lightweight portable ultrasound devices, originally developed for astronauts, now help expectant mothers in remote areas get critical prenatal care. Health workers with minimal training can use them in the field, and real-time data transmission allows doctors anywhere in the world to provide an informed diagnosis. Earth observation satellites also help map healthcare infrastructure, guiding investments such as maternity wards and neonatal care where they're needed most.
