💧Is your water safe to drink? Has water disrupted your life? How does space help us with water challenges?

🌌 #WorldWaterDay (22 March) and World Day for Glaciers (21 March) are moments to reflect on the need to ensure safe water access and protect communities from water-related disasters. 

With 2.2 billion people lacking clean water and rising sea levels, floods, and droughts causing devastation worldwide, the world needs innovative solutions. This year’s theme is glacier preservation. Space technologies can turn the tide: from tracking groundwater and monitoring glaciers to forecasting floods, optimizing water use, detecting pollution sources, and even developing spinoff technologies like advanced water filtration. 

🛰️ At #UNOOSA, we champion space solutions through the #Space4Water initiative, in collaboration with the Prince Sultan Bin Abdulaziz International Prize for Water (PSIPW). Our platform connects experts, shares knowledge, and empowers real-world action. 

We also support disaster response through UN-SPIDER, helping governments and organizations access satellite data for emergency relief, including floods, droughts, and glacier-related hazards. Scroll through our carousel below to learn more.
