Virgo season is here, the constellation Virgo holds some of the Universe’s most intricate and fascinating wonders. Here are a few celestial treasures captured by @esawebb and @hubbleesa that lie within Virgo’s domain:

1. NGC 4535: A stunning spiral galaxy 50 million light-years away, observed as part of the PHANGS program to study star formation cycles in detail.

2. NGC 4526: A bright lenticular galaxy with a colossal black hole at its center, spinning at 250 km/s, located in the Virgo cluster.

3. M87: Home to a monstrous black hole, this galaxy emits a jet of particles traveling near the speed of light, 50 million light-years from Earth.

4. Arp 248: Two interacting spiral galaxies connected by a tidal tail of stars and dust, lying around 200 million light-years away.

5. NGC 4762: An edge-on lenticular galaxy in the Virgo Cluster, possibly shaped by cannibalizing a smaller galaxy in the past.

6. UGC 8091: A dwarf irregular galaxy glowing with recent starbursts, located 7 million light-years away in Virgo.

7. NGC 4522: A spiral galaxy being stripped of its gas content by ram pressure, swirling off the page with dramatic movement.

8. NGC 4303: Another stunning spiral galaxy from the PHANGS program, revealing the intricate structures of star formation.

These images remind us that Virgo season brings a focus on detail and complexity, both in the stars and in ourselves.
