That’s a very ancient black hole 🕳️

With the help of @hubbleesa, scientists have discovered more black holes in the early Universe than ever before! These black holes, found in galaxies that existed just a few hundred million years after the Big Bang, are providing insight into how supermassive black holes—billions of times heavier than the Sun—came to exist. This research will help us better understand galaxy evolution and the formation of these colossal cosmic giants.
